Bay Leaf
Dried aromatic leaves from the Indonesian bay leaf tree (Syzygium polyanthum), also known as Indonesian laurel or salam leaf. These leaves have a distinctive flavor profile different from Mediterranean bay leaves - milder with subtle hints of nutmeg and clove. An essential herb in Indonesian cooking, added to soups, stews, and rice dishes to impart a subtle aromatic depth. Used fresh or dried, typically removed before serving.
